Hulimavu cave Temple, Cave temple in Hulimavu, Bangalore, India.
Hulimavu cave temple is a shrine carved into natural rock formations in Bangalore. Inside, a central Shiva Lingam sits flanked by statues of Devi and Ganesha, creating a simple and focused place of worship within the stone chamber.
The rock formation itself has existed for about 2000 years, but the temple structure as it is worshipped today was built approximately 500 years ago. Later, it became a spiritual resting place for honored spiritual masters.
The space holds deep meaning for devotees who come to meditate and pray in front of the three main deities placed within the stone walls. People still use this place today as a center for spiritual practice and reflection, continuing traditions that have shaped the site over many generations.
The temple opens during morning and evening hours with no entrance fee required. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for narrow passages and uneven stone surfaces inside the cave.
The entire temple has been carved from a single massive rock formation, making it a remarkable feat of stone work. You can see fine carvings and traditional religious motifs throughout the cave walls, revealing the craftsmanship that went into creating this space.
