Thrichattukulam Mahadeva Temple, Hindu temple in Panavally Island, Alappuzha district, India

Thrichattukulam Mahadeva Temple sits on Panavally Island beside Vembanad Lake, featuring a rectangular sanctum with a copper roof, carved wooden details, and an opening facing east. The complex includes a sacred pond situated toward the northeast section of the grounds.

The temple passed through different hands of management, first held by Nampoothiri priests before warrior families took control. It eventually came under the governance of the Venad kingdom and the Travancore Devaswom Board.

Devotees visit regularly to pray to Lord Thrichattukulathappan, also known as Vaduthalayesan, making this a living center of worship for the local community. Daily rituals and offerings remain central to how people experience this place today.

The temple can be reached via the Cherthala Arookkutty Road near NSS High School, positioned between the towns of Cherthala and Arookkutty. Wear sturdy footwear since access to the island involves walking paths that can become slippery during wet weather.

A tall ivory tower rises from the courtyard while a copper pillar stands between the altar and the ivory wall, creating a distinct visual anchor. These features often escape notice because visitors focus mainly on the main shrine itself.
