Achaleshwar Mahadev Temple

Achaleshwar Mahadev Temple is a Hindu temple in the Mount Abu region featuring a sanctum built from large marble blocks. The structure contains numerous carved figures made from quartz crystal throughout its interior.

The temple's origins trace to the Parmar dynasty, who built it during the 9th century. Later, the structure was fundamentally renovated in 1452 under Maharana Kumbh of Mewar.

The temple honors Lord Shiva in an uncommon way by preserving his footprint rather than a traditional Shiva Linga. Visitors can observe this rare feature, which sets this place apart from other Hindu temples.

The temple is located north of Mount Abu and remains accessible during daylight hours for visitors. No entrance fees apply, and comfortable footwear is recommended since the site sits on hilly terrain.

A four-ton statue of Nandi bull stands at the temple entrance, crafted from a blend of metals including gold and silver. This remarkable statue serves as a protective deity and exemplifies skilled metalwork.
