Bellandur, Suburban district in southeastern Bangalore, India

Bellandur is a suburban district in southeastern Bangalore that extends between HSR Layout and Devarabisanahalli, with Sarjapur Road forming its southern boundary and a large lake marking its northern edge. The area houses offices of global companies including KPMG, SAP Labs, Intel, and Microsoft.

A lake in this area was built by the Western Ganga dynasty in the 10th century and continues to define the region. Archaeological digs have uncovered evidence of settlements from the Megalithic Period, including ancient tools and stone structures.

The neighborhood contains temples where residents gather for prayer and celebrations, along with modern cafés and local markets selling fresh produce and traditional goods. These spaces reflect how different ways of living coexist in this area.

The area is well connected and offers facilities for both work and daily living, with modern business zones in some sections and traditional neighborhoods in others. Visitors will find main roads alongside smaller lanes leading to shops and residential areas.

Roman coins unearthed during a 1945 excavation reveal that the area had connections to distant trade networks in ancient times. By the 11th century, the region was known as Vikrama Chola Mandala under the rule of a powerful south Indian dynasty.
