Pavagadh ropeway

Pavagadh ropeway is an aerial lift that spans about 774 meters across the side of Pavagadh Hill, carrying visitors from the base station upward to the Manchi Haveli level at around 297 meters elevation. The journey uses enclosed cabins that hold up to six passengers each.

The cable system opened in 1986 as the first motorized transport link to reach the ancient temple on Pavagadh Hill, transforming how people accessed this sacred site. This development made the journey much faster than the traditional climbing routes.

The cable car provides entry to the Kalika Mata Temple, a sacred sanctuary where visitors come to honor the goddess in a setting that feels deeply spiritual. The site becomes especially lively during festivals and pilgrimage days when families and devotees gather.

The ride itself takes a short time, but remember that a walking climb remains after you reach the upper station. It helps to wear comfortable shoes and bring water, especially on warm days.

After arriving at the upper station, you still need to walk another 250 meters or so uphill to reach the hilltop and the sanctuary. This final stretch on foot gives the visit a different feel and blends modern transport with a more traditional climbing experience.
