Bakhtiari Dam, Hydroelectric power station in Lorestan Province, Iran
The Bakhtiari Dam spans across the Bakhtiari River in the Zagros Mountains, reaching a height of 325 meters with a concrete arch structure.
Construction of the Bakhtiari Dam started in March 2013 after initial studies began in 1996 through Mahab Qods Consulting Engineers.
The dam represents Iran's commitment to renewable energy infrastructure, affecting local communities in both Lorestan and Khuzestan provinces.
The power station will generate 1,500 megawatts of electricity through six vertical-axis turbines, contributing to Iran's national power grid.
Upon completion, the Bakhtiari Dam will become the highest dam structure globally and will create Iran's second-largest water reservoir.
