Quri Qala Cave

The limestone cave stretches for twelve kilometers through the Shaho mountain range, featuring four cascading waterfalls and multiple underground chambers.

Archaeological excavations in the cave revealed silver vessels from the late Sassanian period, along with Arab-Tabarian coins and human remains.

The cave contains evidence of functioning as a Mithra temple during the Sassanian period, with decorative artifacts showing hawks, birds, lions, and phoenix motifs.

The cave maintains a constant temperature of nine degrees Celsius throughout the year, with a humidity level of eighty-nine percent.

The cave houses rare species including Mouse-eared bats, Yellow-spotted salamanders, and the prehistoric Proteus, typically found only in Slovenia.
