Palace of Ardashir

The Palace of Ardashir is a Sasanian royal residence in southwestern Iran with distinctive stone and mortar construction. It features three domed chambers that open behind the main entrance, creating an impressive spatial arrangement.

The palace was built in the 3rd century after the establishment of the Sasanian empire, following the defeat of the Parthian state. The structure marks the beginning of a new architectural era for the Persian realm.

The interior spaces feature elaborate stucco decorations that echo the artistic patterns of earlier royal halls. These crafted details reflect the aesthetic values of an era when grandeur and symmetry expressed a ruler's authority.

The site is located near Firuzabad, a town in Fars Province, and is accessible by road. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes, as exploring the ruins and surroundings is done on foot.

The structure showcases early brick-dome construction, representing a distinctive building method of the empire. This technique differed from construction practices used in other parts of the ancient world at the same time.
