Fars Province

Fars is a province in Iran's central region that spans diverse landscapes from mountainous northern areas to lower southern plains approaching the Persian Gulf. The territory includes three distinct climate zones that support different vegetation, wildlife, and agricultural patterns across the province.

The region served as the political center of the Achaemenid Empire, with Persepolis and Pasargadae established as imperial capitals during the 6th century BC. These ancient sites shaped the historical importance of the territory and remain central to understanding ancient Persian civilization.

The province is home to several ethnic groups including Persians, Qashqai, Lurs, and Arabs, each maintaining distinct traditions and ways of life. In cities like Shiraz, visitors encounter this diversity through local customs, crafts, and daily community practices.

The province is divided into 29 administrative counties, each managing local governance and operations independently. Agricultural production here focuses on wheat, citrus fruits, and dates, which supply regional and national markets.
