Shah Mosque

The Shah Mosque features intricate tilework patterns, four minarets reaching 42 meters, and a double-layered dome decorated with blue ceramic tiles and geometric designs.

Construction began in 1611 under Shah Abbas I of the Safavid Empire, with architect Bahāʾ al-dīn al-ʿĀmilī completing this masterpiece in 1630.

The mosque incorporates Persian calligraphy, Islamic geometric patterns, and traditional Iranian architectural elements, representing the peak of Safavid religious architecture.

The mosque, located on the southern side of Naqsh-e Jahan Square, remains an active place of worship and includes two religious schools in its corners.

The central dome's design creates specific acoustic properties that allow a sound made at the base to echo seven times, enhancing prayer recitations.
