Chaldean Catholic Metropolitan Archdiocese of Tehran

St. Joseph's Cathedral in Tehran operates as the principal church of the Chaldean Catholic Metropolitan Archdiocese, serving the Catholic community in Iran's capital region.

The archdiocese, founded in 1853 in Sanandaj, relocated its administrative center to Tehran in 1944 to better serve the growing Catholic population.

The archdiocese maintains seven parishes and two missions across Tehran, providing religious services to approximately 1,780 Catholics in the Persian community.

Three diocesan priests and two religious sisters coordinate religious activities, educational programs, and community support services throughout the metropolitan area.

Archbishop Imad Khoshaba Gargees leads the archdiocese while simultaneously functioning as Patriarchal Administrator for the regions of Urmyā and Salmas.
