Yakhi Waterfall

Yakhi Waterfall is a frozen cascade in the Dood Kooh Mountains near Mount Damavand. The ice formation rises dramatically from the mountain slope, fed by meltwater from glaciers higher up.

The waterfall developed over many decades through repeated cycles of glacial melt and refreezing at this elevation. These natural processes created the persistent ice column visible today on the mountainside.

Local residents and mountaineers frequent this natural formation as part of their exploration of the Dood Kooh Mountains region throughout the seasons.

The site sits at high altitude in rugged mountain terrain and requires proper gear, physical fitness, and acclimatization time. Visiting between late spring and early autumn offers the best weather conditions for the journey.

The waterfall maintains its frozen state throughout the year, with summer glacier melt contributing to its increasing size over time.
