Iranian National Observatory

The Iranian National Observatory is a research facility on Mount Gargash equipped with a large telescope for astronomical observation. The site includes automated monitoring systems, weather instruments, and specialized cameras that track sky conditions to ensure optimal viewing.

The project began in 2008 when engineers tested elevation and conditions at different mountain sites. After careful evaluation, they selected Mount Gargash as the chosen location for construction.

The facility serves as a hub for Iran's scientific community to pursue advanced astronomical research and education. Researchers and students gather here to observe the sky together and collaborate on projects.

The high-altitude setting provides clear skies ideal for observation, though the mountain environment presents challenging conditions. Visitors should prepare for cold temperatures and thinner air at this elevation.

The telescope features multiple attachment ports that allow simultaneous scientific measurements to take place. This enables researchers to examine different aspects of celestial objects at the same time.
