Fin Garden, Persian garden in Kashan, Iran
Fin Garden is a Persian garden in Kashan that combines architectural elements from three different periods. Water moves through tile-lined channels into pools, while ancient cypress trees and several buildings including a central pavilion and historical bathhouse shape the layout.
The garden was laid out in the late 1500s and received additional structures during a later Persian dynasty. In the 2010s, it gained recognition as a World Heritage site.
The garden reflects how Persian builders valued balance between water, greenery, and shelter from the sun. You see this directly as you walk: water flows through every section, old trees provide shade, and the layout naturally draws people to rest and enjoy the surroundings.
Paths throughout the garden lead to all main areas, making it easy to navigate the grounds. The entrance area provides good orientation, and the site is manageable in a single visit.
The garden's water system has operated for centuries without pumps by using natural slope to maintain pressure. This age-old technique keeps fountains flowing throughout the site without any modern machinery.
