Piruz Nahavandi Mausoleum

The Piruz Nahavandi Mausoleum is a tower-shaped burial monument in Kashan that rises approximately 19 meters and is crowned by a conical dome covered in turquoise tiles. The interior space displays elaborate painted ceilings, while the walls show visible layers of adobe bricks, mortar, and traditional tiles that form its construction.

The mausoleum was established in the early 16th century to honor a Persian warrior from the early Islamic period whose name and deeds remain remembered today. The structure underwent multiple construction phases over the centuries as different architectural styles were gradually incorporated.

The structure reflects how different Iranian eras left their mark through evolving design choices, from geometric patterns in earlier periods to more ornate decorations in later times. Walking through the interior reveals these layers in the walls and ceiling work.

The site is located on Abu Lolo Street and is reachable from the main road connecting Kashan to Fin. Visitors should note that the building sits on hilly terrain, so sturdy footwear is recommended.

The building features an unusual ten-sided floor plan, which sets it apart from more common rectangular or rounded forms. This geometric detail reflects the mathematical thinking that went into Persian construction methods.
