Jalali Castle

Jalali Castle is a medieval fortress in Kashan built with adobe bricks and featuring thick defensive walls topped with guard towers. The structure contains multiple rooms, passages, and fortified positions that allowed defenders to control approaches from different vantage points.

The fortress was built in the 11th century as part of Kashan's defenses during the Seljuk period. Later, during the early Safavid era, it became involved in regional conflicts and uprisings.

The fortress was a key part of Kashan's medieval defenses, showing how the city's residents protected themselves during periods of conflict. Its thick adobe walls reflect the building knowledge that master craftsmen possessed at that time.

The site is best explored on foot, taking time to move through the different sections of the fortress. Wear comfortable shoes and arrive with knowledge of local access conditions, as the location has minimal modern facilities.

During the early Safavid period, the fortress served as a stronghold for Mohammad Khan Torkaman's uprising that lasted more than a decade. This chapter reveals how the ancient structure remained strategically important long after its original construction.
