Feyziyeh Madrasa

Feyziyeh Madrasa, Islamic educational institution in Qom, Iran.

Feyziyeh Madrasa is an Islamic educational building in Qom that combines Safavid and Qajar architectural styles. The structure features brick walls, plaster details, and traditional Persian tilework along with multiple courtyards and teaching spaces.

This madrasa was founded in 1533 during the Safavid period and underwent major reconstructions in 1799 and 1803. Further renovations followed in 1839, reflecting the architectural changes of successive eras.

This madrasa serves as a major center for Shia Islamic scholarship, attracting students and teachers from across different regions. The courtyards and classrooms remain active spaces where religious learning and discussion take place daily.

The madrasa is located next to the Hazrat Masoumeh shrine and can be reached on foot from the city center. Visitors should plan for limited visiting hours and dress appropriately when entering the site.

On March 22, 1963, the madrasa became the site of significant protests against Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi's White Revolution reforms. This event marked an important moment of resistance that elevated the institution's historical importance in Iran.
