Nader Shah Mausoleum

Nader Shah Mausoleum is a tomb and biographical museum in Mashhad built from granite across a large footprint. The building contains a central library, a main hall, and several exhibition areas surrounding the burial chamber.

The mausoleum opened in 1963 and honors Nader Shah, who founded the Afsharid dynasty that ruled Persia. Architect Hooshang Seyhoun created a building that connects historical memory with contemporary design.

The mausoleum bears the name of the dynasty founder and draws visitors interested in Persian military history. The displayed weapons and objects from various periods show how this ruler remains rooted in local memory.

The building stands at the Shahda Intersection in Mashhad and is easily accessible from main roads. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes, as the grounds are large and multiple areas invite exploration.

The building blends Pahlavi architectural elements by combining modernist design principles with Persian ornaments in granite. This mix of contemporary and traditional styles makes it a notable example of 20th-century Iranian architecture.
