Pearl Palace, Heritage palace in Mehrshahr, Iran.
Pearl Palace is a residence in Alborz Province featuring two concrete domes and a ziggurat form connected by ramps and stairs. The structure spans multiple levels with a cinema seating 99 people, billiard room, swimming pool, offices, reception rooms, and living quarters near an artificial lake.
William Wesley Peters from the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation designed this residence for Princess Shams Pahlavi, completing the project in 1973. The ambitious construction brought together American architectural vision and Persian royal patronage.
The building combines modernist and Pahlavi design through circular patterns visible in doors, furnishings, light fixtures, walls, and ceilings. These geometric shapes create a unified artistic language throughout the spaces.
The site sits near an artificial lake and is navigated through multiple levels connected by ramps and stairs. Visitors should wear comfortable walking shoes as exploring the grounds requires moving through different heights and distances.
From an aerial view, the structure resembles an eagle ray holding a pearl, with a deep water area flowing outward like fins. This organic silhouette was created by deliberately linking architectural forms with the surrounding landscape.
