Church in Víðimýri, Turf church in Sveitarfélagið Skagafjörður, Iceland
The Víðimýri church stands 4.28 meters tall with traditional turf walls and wooden gables at both ends of the structure.
Built in 1834 by carpenter Jón Samsonarson, this church continues a religious tradition at the site dating back to Iceland's Christian conversion.
The interior layout maintains the post-Reformation tradition where men sat on the south side while women occupied the north side of the church.
The church welcomes visitors from June through August, Tuesday to Sunday between 12:00 PM and 6:00 PM, with admission at 1000 ISK for adults.
The church houses a Danish altarpiece from 1616 depicting the Last Supper and contains clocks from 1630 positioned in its 1936 gate.
