Saronno, Administrative commune in Province of Varese, Italy
Saronno is a town in Lombardy, located roughly 22 kilometers northwest of Milan, surrounded by smaller settlements and crossed by residential neighborhoods and industrial areas. The town sits at an elevation of about 212 meters and combines urban development with parks and historic buildings in the center.
The settlement arose in Roman times and developed into a regional center during the medieval period. In 1960 it received official city status through presidential decree.
The church houses sixteenth-century frescoes that worshippers and visitors still view today. Visitors also see dome paintings there that show religious scenes in warm tones.
The railway station connects travelers with Milan, Como, Varese and Novara via the Ferrovienord network with regular connections. Visitors can orient themselves on foot in the center, where the church and museum are located.
The museum preserves a large collection of eighteenth-century European ceramics, gathered by a local collector. The exhibition shows pieces from several countries that give insight into craftsmanship of that time.
