San Donato Milanese extends across a flat terrain at 102 meters elevation, connected to Milan through multiple transportation networks and industrial zones.
The settlement originated in the 7th century when Duke Grimoald I of Benevento established a pieve, later becoming a strategic location for Frederick Barbarossa's forces.
