Picciano, Administrative commune in Province of Pescara, Italy.

Picciano is a commune in the Province of Pescara, located in the Abruzzo region of central Italy. The settlement sits on elevated terrain and comprises several small hamlets scattered across the municipal territory.

Picciano was first mentioned in written records in 1049, when Bernardo, Count of Penne, granted land for establishing a Benedictine abbey in the area. This marked the beginning of the settlement's documented history.

The Church of Santa Maria del Soccorso stands as a central monument in Picciano, featuring a neoclassical brick facade and a bell tower.

Visitors reach this commune via state road 151 from Pescara, with the municipal office located on Via Vittorio Emanuele handling administrative matters. A car is advisable for getting around, since the various hamlets are spread across the local territory.

The commune is divided into eight distinct subdivisions, each preserving its own local identity. This arrangement continues to shape how the population is distributed across the municipal area today.
