Pineto

Pineto is a coastal settlement on the Adriatic with a 6-kilometer sandy beach lined by rows of maritime pine trees. The landscape combines flat shoreline with wooded areas immediately inland from the water.

The Torre di Cerrano was built in the 16th century under Charles V and served as a defensive tower against attacks from the sea. This fortification shaped coastal security for centuries.

The town center features neoclassical villas such as Villa Marucci and Villa Pretaroli that shape the appearance of the settlement. These buildings reflect the prosperity that coastal trade brought to the area in earlier times.

The beaches maintain high environmental standards and carry the Blue Flag certification for water quality from the Foundation for Environmental Education. Visitors should expect larger numbers during peak season.

The Torre di Cerrano now operates as a marine biology laboratory supporting research on the Adriatic ecosystem. Scientists use the historic tower to study and protect the underwater world.
