Sant'Elpidio a Mare, Medieval commune in Province of Fermo, Italy.

Sant'Elpidio a Mare is a town situated on a ridge in the Marche Apennines between the valleys of two rivers. The settlement is defined by medieval walls with three surviving gates that once formed part of a larger defensive system.

A Roman settlement called Cluana once stood in this area until its destruction in the 5th century following invasions. Following this loss, a Benedictine monastery was established, becoming the foundation for the later medieval town.

The main square serves as the heart of daily life, where shops and cafés shape the character of the community. It is where you can observe locals moving through the medieval streets and using this historic setting as part of their routine.

The town is easily accessible and the streets are typically narrow and sloped with steps in some places. Comfortable footwear is advisable since the old streets are paved with uneven surfaces typical of medieval hill towns.

The Torre Gerosolimitana in the town center was built by the Knights Hospitaller in the 16th century and represents a rare example of Crusader military architecture in this region. It stands as a reminder of the town's strategic importance during the early modern period.
