Punta La Marmora

Punta La Marmora reaches an elevation of 1,834 meters above sea level, making it the highest peak in Sardinia with extensive views of the coastline.

The mountain received its name from geographer Alberto Ferrero della Marmora, who conducted extensive research and mapping expeditions throughout Sardinia in the 19th century.

The mountain territory spans between the communes of Desulo and Arzana, where local shepherds maintain traditional grazing practices in the surrounding grasslands.

The hiking trail to the summit begins at a parking area at 1,504 meters elevation and covers approximately 16.8 kilometers for a round trip journey.

A prominent iron cross stands 5 meters tall at the mountain summit, serving as a reference point for hikers who reach the highest elevation in Sardinia.
