Capo Circeo Lighthouse, Coastal lighthouse in San Felice Circeo, Italy

Capo Circeo Lighthouse is a white cylindrical structure with a grey metallic lantern dome at its top. The tower stands 18 meters tall overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea from its rocky promontory.

The structure was built in 1866 during the reign of Pope Pius IX to guide ship traffic through these southern waters. It has continuously served maritime navigation in the region since then.

The lighthouse sits within Circeo National Park as a visual anchor for people navigating along this rocky coastline. Its white form marks a familiar landmark for fishermen and vessels passing through these waters.

The lighthouse sits on an exposed headland that is best reached from the National Park side. Access depends on park regulations, so it is worth checking conditions beforehand.

The lighthouse still uses a classical flashing light system that blinks white every 5 seconds and can be seen up to 23 nautical miles across the water. This proven system shows how maritime navigation works reliably even with traditional technology.
