Pula

Pula is a coastal town in southwestern Sardinia, situated roughly 25 kilometers southwest of Cagliari. The municipality stretches along the Mediterranean shoreline with white sand beaches and clear waters, particularly around the Santa Margherita area.

The area grew from the ancient Phoenician city of Nora, founded in the 8th century BC and later serving as a Roman capital for Sardinia and Corsica. This early settlement shaped the region for centuries to come.

The Giovanni Patroni Civic Museum displays archaeological finds from ancient Nora, including marble sculptures and religious objects spanning multiple periods. The collection shows how residents of that era lived and practiced their beliefs.

The town works well as a base for exploring Sardinian beaches, with easy access to several coves including Cala Marina, Cala Bernardini, and Cala Verde. The nearby beaches are straightforward to reach and suitable for swimming.

The Polaris Science and Technology Park houses more than 60 companies and research centers focused on biomedicine and environmental innovation. This facility shows that the region is also a hub for modern research beyond coastal tourism.
