Brogleshütte, Mountain hut at 2045 meters in Ortisei, Italy.
Brogleshütte is a mountain shelter at 2045 meters (6709 feet) near Ortisei, set on the edge of alpine meadows with views of the Sella massif and Sassolungo peaks. It has a wooden terrace and sits surrounded by green pastures that extend toward the gray limestone cliffs of the Geisler range.
The shelter started as a simple refuge for shepherds before becoming a mountain accommodation point on established hiking routes through the Dolomites. Over time it evolved into a regular stop for climbers and hikers traversing the region.
Locals gather here during the hiking season to meet and socialize, making it a genuine part of mountain life rather than just a tourist stop. The staff share stories about mountain living and interact with guests in their preferred language.
Access is via the Rasciesa funicular from Ortisei followed by a hike of about one hour and fifteen minutes on trail 35A. The path is well-marked and leads through open meadows to the shelter.
During summer months the ground around the shelter displays a striking bloom of alpine rhododendrons that creates a strong color contrast against the gray rock faces. These rose fields typically flower from June through August and create a memorable landscape.
