Pic

Pic is a mountain summit at 2363 meters in Val Gardena, distinguished by grassy slopes that differ from the rocky peaks typical of the Dolomites. The terrain combines open meadows with extensive views across multiple mountain ranges.

Mountain paths here were established in the 1800s to connect local farms with valley villages. They were expanded later as tourism grew in Val Gardena.

The mountain meadows host traditional shepherding, with herds grazing across the grassy slopes as they have for centuries. This pastoral practice shapes how the landscape looks and changes with the seasons.

The hike starts at the Runcaudie parking area at 1770 meters elevation and passes through varying terrain to reach the summit. Sturdy footwear is recommended, and the route is best visited during warmer months.

The summit offers views of eight different Dolomite groups including Odle, Puez, Sella, and Sassolungo spread across the horizon. This expansive vista across multiple mountain ranges makes the climb worthwhile for many visitors.
