Gardena Ronda Express funicular

The Gardena Ronda Express stretches 1.24 kilometers through a tunnel, connecting Col Raiser lifts to Sasslong and Ciampinoi lifts in the Dolomites region.

The funicular, inaugurated on December 22, 2004, restored rail transportation to Val Gardena valley after a forty-year absence following the closure of Val Gardena Railway.

This transportation system forms an integral part of the winter sports infrastructure, enabling access to different sections of the Sellaronda ski circuit.

Each train comprises four cabins accommodating 35 passengers each, with the system capable of transporting 2000 people per hour at speeds of 36 kilometers per hour.

The entire funicular line operates within a tunnel system, featuring two Gangloff-constructed trains with cable systems manufactured by Leitner Ropeways.
