Tarot Garden, Sculpture garden in Pescia Fiorentina, Italy.
The Tarot Garden is a sculpture garden in the Tuscan landscape where large figures represent different tarot cards. The artworks fill the space and invite you to walk through and explore the grounds.
French-American artist Niki de Saint Phalle began creating this work in 1979. The project opened to the public in 1998.
The sculptures use mirrors, colored glass, and steel to interpret the mystical symbols of tarot cards. They create spaces you can walk through and experience as you look at the artistic details.
The garden is walkable on paths, but the grounds are hilly, so wear comfortable shoes. Bring water and sun protection, as there is little shade throughout the space.
Each sculpture works as both a standalone artwork and a walkable space you can explore from inside. This dual function makes the experience one where you see art and also move through it.
