Teatro Valle, Opera house and theater in Rome, Italy
Teatro Valle contains five levels of theater boxes arranged in a horseshoe shape, with intricate decorative elements throughout the interior structure.
The Capranica family commissioned the construction of Teatro Valle in 1726, making it among the first permanent theaters established in Rome.
The world premiere of Luigi Pirandello's Six Characters in Search of an Author took place at Teatro Valle in 1921.
The theater building underwent multiple renovations, including the addition of a new facade in 1845 designed by architect Gaspare Servi.
In 2011, actors, musicians, and technicians occupied the theater for three years to prevent its privatization and maintain artistic independence.
