Ancona/Falconara Airport is a modern terminal located in Falconara Marittima featuring glass facades without internal supports and solar panels for energy production. The airport began as a seaplane base in 1924 serving routes from Venice to Zadar, relocated to a land airfield in Falconara in 1932, and later served military operations. After World War II it returned to civilian use in 1946 and underwent major modernization in the 1980s with construction of the current terminal building.
The airport is accessible by bus, taxi, and rental car services with ample parking nearby and a train station adjacent for onward travel. Arrive at least one hour before departure, especially if checking luggage, to ensure a smooth check-in process and security screening.
