Naturnser Hochwart, Mountain summit in South Tyrol, Italy
Naturnser Hochwart is a mountain summit in the Ötztal Alps in South Tyrol that rises to 2,608 meters (8,556 feet). From the top, you can see the Ötztal, the Vinschgau Valley, and the surrounding mountain ranges.
The paths to the summit started as trade routes that connected the Vinschgau Valley with neighboring alpine valleys. Over centuries, people used these same routes to move goods and travel between communities.
The mountain is a familiar destination for local hikers and climbers who come to experience the alpine landscape that defines their region.
The hike takes about 5 to 6 hours from the village of Naturns using the marked trails. Sturdy hiking boots and plenty of water are necessary since the path is steep and offers little shade.
On clear days, the summit offers views across four different mountain ranges: the Ötztal Alps, the Ortler group, the Dolomites, and the Stubaier Alps. This rare vantage point makes it special for anyone reaching the top.
