Admiral's bridge, Medieval stone bridge in Palermo, Italy

The Admiral's Bridge spans across the former path of the Oreto River, featuring strong stone construction with multiple arches along its length.

George of Antioch ordered the construction of this bridge in 1132, during the period when Roger II established himself as the first King of Sicily.

The structure represents a prime example of Norman engineering, earning recognition as part of the Arab-Norman UNESCO World Heritage collection in Palermo.

The bridge connects the central district to other parts of Palermo through dedicated lanes for both pedestrians and cyclists.

During the 1860 Italian unification, the bridge became a strategic point where Garibaldi's forces engaged in battle against the Bourbon army.
