Palazzo dell’Archiginnasio, Renaissance palace in central Bologna, Italy
The Palazzo dell'Archiginnasio features a symmetrical facade with two levels of porticoes and numerous coats of arms decorating its walls and corridors.
Built in 1563 by architect Antonio Morandi, this structure became the first unified seat of the University of Bologna until the end of the 18th century.
The Anatomical Theatre, constructed in 1637, displays intricate wooden carvings and statues representing medical pioneers and anatomical studies through centuries.
The municipal library operates Monday through Friday from 9:00 to 19:00 and Saturday from 9:00 to 18:00, with guided tours available at the entrance.
The walls and ceilings contain more than 6,000 coats of arms of students who studied at the university from different regions across Europe.
