Odeon of Domitian, Theatre and Roman archaeological site in Campus Martius, Rome, Italy

The Odeon of Domitian features extensive tiered seating areas with a capacity of 11,000 spectators and includes a dedicated orchestra section for performances.

The structure, completed in 92 CE during Emperor Domitian's reign, underwent restoration in 106 CE by engineer Apollodorus of Damascus.

Musicians and poets performed their compositions in this covered theatre, making it different from traditional open-air Roman entertainment venues.

A single cipoline monolithic column remains visible near the rear facade of Palazzo Massimo alle Colonne, marking the location of the ancient stage.

The structure established itself as the first dedicated odeum in Rome, introducing a new type of performance venue to the ancient capital.
