Laveno–Poggio Sant’Elsa cableway, Aerial lift in Laveno-Mombello, Italy
The Laveno-Poggio Sant'Elsa cableway carries passengers in green-painted cabins from the lake shore to the summit of Poggio Sant'Elsa at 974 meters elevation. The system uses alternating open and covered cabins, each designed to hold two standing passengers.
The original Trojer system was replaced in 2006 with a modern cable system featuring enclosed cabins installed by CCM. This upgrade brought improved safety and comfort for daily users and visitors.
Local residents call this cableway the 'Farbeimerbahn' because of how its cabins are shaped like paint buckets. This nickname has become part of how people in the area talk about the mountain connection.
The journey takes about 16 minutes each way, so arriving early helps avoid long lines. Wear comfortable shoes since the mountain top offers walking trails and various activities.
The mountain station has a dedicated takeoff area for paragliders, where pilots launch over Lake Maggiore with views of the Monte Rosa peaks. This spot has become popular with paragliding enthusiasts from across the region.
