Area marina protetta Isola di Bergeggi

The protected marine zone extends across 901 hectares of Mediterranean waters, featuring limestone cliffs, underwater caves, and extensive Posidonia seagrass meadows.

The Italian Ministry of Environment established the Area Marina Protetta Isola di Bergeggi in May 2007 to safeguard the marine biodiversity of the Ligurian coast.

The marine reserve maintains educational programs throughout the year, teaching visitors about Mediterranean marine ecosystems and conservation methods.

The protected area divides into three zones: Zone A for scientific research, Zone B for swimming and sailing, and Zone C for regulated water activities.

The underwater tunnel at La Grottina leads to an air-filled cave, creating a natural geological formation frequently visited by divers.
