Autodromo di Mores, circuito automobilistico
The Autodromo di Mores is a racing circuit about 1.6 kilometers long with nine turns, built with wide asphalt lanes bordered by grass and gravel safety zones. The track accommodates up to 20 motorcycles and 20 cars, with tire barriers and asphalt runoff areas for protection.
The site began as a military airfield used by the US Air Force during World War II, after which runways and taxiways were partially converted into a racing circuit. The current permanent racing facility was built starting in 2003 to provide a dedicated track for testing and motorsport events on the island.
The track connects motorsport with local Sardinian traditions through displays of crafts and regional food at events. Visitors experience how the island integrates racing activities with its cultural identity.
The track sits away from busy areas in quiet countryside and has rescue facilities plus modern safety features throughout. Visitors should prepare for changeable weather and can use the nearby airports of Alghero and Olbia for easy arrival.
The track was built on a former US military airfield from World War II, and the old control tower now serves as a clubhouse lounge. This blend of military history and modern racing creates a place where two eras meet.
