Cascate del Varone, Natural waterfall in Tenno, Italy
The Varone Waterfall plunges through a limestone gorge for 98 meters, creating two separate observation caves at different heights within the rock formation.
The waterfall site opened to visitors in 1874 with an inauguration ceremony attended by King John of Saxony and Prince Nicola of Montenegro.
Author Thomas Mann found inspiration at the Varone waterfall during his stays in Riva del Garda between 1901 and 1904 for his novel The Magic Mountain.
The site includes parking facilities, picnic areas, and walking paths that lead to both upper and lower observation points of the waterfall.
Underground springs from Lake Tenno feed the Magnone stream, which creates this waterfall after briefly flowing through the mountain interior.
