Castle of Millesimo

The Castle of Millesimo is a medieval fortress built on elevated ground in Savona province, constructed from stone with visible towers and defensive walls. The building displays typical northern Italian fortification features, designed to control the valley below from its commanding position.

The fortress was built around 1200 as a defensive stronghold for the family that controlled the region. During military campaigns in 1796, it served as a strategic location during armed conflicts that swept through the area.

The fortress sits at the upper end of the village and is accessed via the Salita al Castello street. It is worth the steep walk on foot to experience the view over the valley from its hilltop position.
