The Semenza hydroelectric power plant harnesses the natural flow of the Adda River to generate electricity through its advanced turbine systems.
Built in 1920 as part of Edison's expansion strategy, the Semenza plant joined the existing Bertini and Esterle facilities along the Adda River.
The power station features Art Nouveau architectural elements and neo-Gothic details, constructed with local ceppo d'Adda stone materials.
The facility produces approximately 87 million kilowatt-hours annually, contributing to the power needs of thousands of households in the region.
In 2023, the Semenza plant, along with two other Edison facilities on the Adda River, entered the Hydro Hall of Fame for century-long operations.
