The Chiesa della Natività della Beata Vergine Maria is a Baroque church in Tricase with curved lines and elaborate decorations adorning its walls and ceiling. Beneath the main worship space lies an underground crypt dedicated to the Madonna of Pompeii, which houses religious artworks and serves as a sacred chamber for devotion.

Construction of this religious building began in 1736, a period when Baroque style defined Italian church design and decorative schemes. Since its creation, it has remained a central place of worship for the town and reflects the architectural tastes of its era.

The church stands in Tricase's historic centre, reachable on foot from the castle and the main squares. The facade was finished in 1785, so look for the portal framed by two pairs of composite-capital columns and the niche holding the praying Madonna. From the transept a stair leads down to the crypt of the Madonna di Pompei, where Cardinal Giovanni Panico is buried.

The counter-facade holds a large painting of the Last Supper, commissioned from Roberto Buttazzo of Lequile for the church's reopening in 1995 after restoration. The building also keeps furnishings from earlier churches, including a Renaissance baptismal font and canvases from the 16th to 18th centuries.
