Madonna del Soccorso

The Madonna del Soccorso chapel stands as a rectangular structure with angular buttresses between the front facade and side walls, featuring a rectangular doorway.

Built during the 15th century outside Scarlino's walls near the ancient powder magazine, the chapel remained consecrated until 1829 when residential construction began above it.

The interior walls display a Renaissance fresco of the Madonna del Giglio, which contributed to the chapel's alternative name alongside Madonna del Soccorso.

The chapel sits on the ground floor of a 19th-century residential building along via della Salnitreria, just outside Porta Pisana in Scarlino.

The structure transformed from a religious sanctuary into a storage area after 1829, when builders constructed residential spaces directly above the original chapel.
