Sant'Antioco di Bisarcio

Located on an isolated volcanic hill near Chilivani, Sant'Antioco di Bisarcio stands as one of the largest Romanesque churches in northern Sardinia.

The cathedral was constructed in the late 11th century and served as the seat of a Catholic diocese from 1065 to 1503 within the giudicato of Torres.

The architectural design combines Lombard and Pisane influences, featuring three rounded arcades and a narthex supported by cruciform piers with six groin vaults.

The cathedral opens Tuesday through Sunday, with extended hours from April to October and reduced hours from November to March, including seasonal closures.

The bishop's private chapel on the upper floor contains a central room with an altar and a mullioned window that opens into the cathedral's interior.
