Sant'Antonio Abate, Gothic church in San Daniele del Friuli, Italy.

Sant'Antonio Abate is a church built in the International Gothic style located in the center of San Daniele del Friuli. Its facade displays Istrian stone with a large openwork rose window and intricate carved details framing the main entrance.

The building was first consecrated in 1308 and suffered significant damage during the 1348 earthquake. Its current facade was completed in 1470 under rector Emiliano Cimbriaco after reconstruction efforts.

The church takes its name from Saint Anthony the Abbot, revered as protector of butchers and farmers in local tradition. This connection shapes how the community relates to this sacred space and its role in daily life.

The church sits on Via Garibaldi in the town center and is easily reached on foot from nearby streets. Check opening hours in advance, as access times vary depending on the day and season.

Inside, the church displays frescoes painted by Martino da Udine, a local artist from the 15th century also known as Pellegrino. These wall paintings were created over roughly two decades and remain among the most striking visual elements visitors encounter.
