Castle of Ragogna, Medieval castle in Ragogna, Italy.

The castle stands on a rocky hill overlooking the Tagliamento River, featuring thick stone walls, multiple towers, and a reconstructed residential building.

Paolo Diacono mentioned the castle in Historia Langobardorum during the year 610, documenting conflicts between Avars and Longobards in the region.

The castle grounds now serve as a venue for local events, connecting visitors to the medieval military architecture of the Friuli region.

From May to October, visitors can access the castle on weekends between 2:30 PM and 6:30 PM, with free admission and guided tours upon request.

The castle belonged to the Eppestein family, dukes of Carinthia, before being transferred to the Ragogna family who became known for their banditry acts.
