Château de Quart, Medieval castle on rocky slope in Quart, Italy.
The fortress includes a network of fortified buildings arranged within a perimeter that follows the natural contours of a steep mountain slope.
The castle construction began in 1185 under Jacques de la Porte de Saint-Ours, who established his residence and founded the Lords of Quart.
The ground floor features a portico with multiple frescoed lunette arches depicting scenes of daily activities and various workshops from medieval times.
While permanently closed for regular visits, the castle opens on specific dates throughout the year with free admission to the general public.
The central courtyard contains a wrought iron fountain known as del Melograno, which stands as a representation of wealth from past centuries.
